Caversham made an inauspicious start to their season’s AC competitive fixtures, going down 4-0 at Phyllis Court.
Our team of Mike Kay, Bob Eales, Mark Keogh and Charles Briggs all lost their matches in the Handicap League North Division clash (see below).
Captain Charles Briggs said: “We all had a hard time on lawns that were so fast that it was very difficult to keep the balls on the lawn.
“It was not a great start to the season — but it was a lovely sunny afternoon in Henley by the river.”
And he pledged: “We will do better next time.”
