There was a photo-finish to Caversham’s first Single Court League match of the season today, the club’s B team pipping their C side on final-hoop deciders in the last two games.
The defending league champion pairing of Tim Small and David Dibben were tied at 6-6 with their higher-handicap opponents, Jane Probitts and Mike Parker respectively.
David had to fight back from 6-1 down and finally both the two lower-handicap players prevailed to give the B duo victory by 4-1 in a local derby which could so easily have gone the other way.
