Sign up for lessons from Caversham’s new coach

Good news for those looking to improve their game… Caversham Croquet Club now has a FOURTH coach.

Tim Small is the latest recruit to the ranks of our instructors, joining Mike Kay, Carol and Brian Jamieson.

He qualified following an intensive course at the Wycombe club last weekend.

Afterwards Tim (right) said: “Starting to play the game of croquet was challenging and without the help and encouragement of some good people at Caversham I would not have enjoyed it as much as I do today.

“I therefore took the decision to sign up to become a club coach partly to repay those people who encouraged me and to be there for anyone who needed help.

“The start of this journey began last weekend at High Wycombe, where I attended a wonderful two-day course held at the Chiltern Academy, run by a great man called Rich Waterman.

“This course tested my knowledge of the rules of Golf Croquet and the laws of Association Croquet with a written quiz, together with some coaching exercises and presentations.

“I was successful in passing the course, but still have to carry out some recorded coaching sessions to gain my full accreditation.

“So if you want to be my first guinea pigs — oops! Sorry, “first students” — look out for coaching sessions on Team Up.”
