No fewer than SEVEN Caversham members this week took possession of their new PFC Hoop Maker mallets, fresh off the plane from Australia. Croquet Academy coaching director Richard Carline was back at Albert Road to hand over the kit just in time for the new season.

Our picture shows Carol Hill, Liz and John Walker, Anna Guinamard, Chris Barnard and Wyn Bartley with mallets guru Richard.
A nice mixture, including T&F Group players and some of last year’s new intake, splashed out on the aluminium-alloy goods.
Thanks for the snap go to the seventh player to pay up to upgrade their mallet, Jane Probitts. Thanks also go to Chris Barnard, the organiser of the event. Chris said: “In addition to setting up the new mallets, Richard provided individual tuition for stance and stroke play.
“He then instructed these members in a number of useful training exercises which they can use to further hone their skills.
“Our members Tim Small and Brian Jamieson assisted with the coaching. It was a chilly but very enjoyable day.”
Richard said: “It was a highly successful day.”
