Caversham’s Charles Briggs has won through to this year’s final of the All-England golf croquet championship.
He qualified with a strong performance in the area final at sweltering Bath on Sunday.
Charles (left) will challenge for the national title at Wrest Park, Bedfordshire, on September 10th and 11th.
And he’ll have some good company in the final , as Caversham team-mate Brian Jamieson will also be in the line-up, albeit representing the Blewbury club, where he is a member.
In fact Brian finished top dog in the area final, winning all four of his matches.
Charles and Brian progressed despite some very awkward conditions. “Lawns not as we had hoped for,” was the Caversham verdict. “No irrigation, bumpy and inconsistent.”
