Caversham clinched the SCF One Court Clubs’ Advantage League with a 5-0 whitewash of Aldermaston this afternoon.
The B team pairing of Tim Small and David Dibben made sure we retained the trophy for the fifth year in a row.
Sharing the playing duties over the GC season with Anne Small and Carol Jamieson, Tim and David completed a 100 per cent winning record for the team.
And after his two singles victories Tim’s handicap was cut to six.
But it wasn’t all plain sailing. The long, attritional doubles and the first two singles matches could easily have gone the other way.

However the Caversham duo found their best form in the reverse singles, both scoring convincing wins against probably the best team faced in the league this season.
The big win for our B side earned some revenge for the Caversham C team’s 4-1 defeat by a different Aldermaston pairing the previous day.
Caversham C were hit by being forced to make a very late change because of a knee injury suffered by John Walker.
His last-minute replacement, Jane Probitts, had no luck at all and the only consolation was a solitary win for Liz Walker with the match already lost.
Below is the scoresheet from the title-clinching match at Albert Road…
