Doggone! We come up short against the real champions

Caversham’s players came away empty-handed from the Champion of Champions finals in both codes, apart from picking up some very worthwhile experience.

Our young AC champ Chris Pegrum (right) was successful in only one of his five matches in an event won by Aston Wade of Hamptworth on his own lawns. But Chris’s dog enjoyed the croquet!

On the previous day David Dibben (left) did rather better in the GC tournament in deepest Wiltshire, winning four of his six games to finish second in his group. But that was not enough to earn a place in the final, won by the Winchester player Artur Da Costa.
