The establishment of a new website for our club is likely to get the green light from the committee next week.
Our newly-appointed IT guru Bob Eales has been working on the proposed new site for several weeks and his plans are nearing fruition.
Here’s a sneak preview (right) what the home page of our new site will look like… Seem familiar? It is of course cloned from a template provided by the Croquet Association which is used by more than 30 other clubs up and down the country.
It operates on WordPress, an easy-to-use system which should be ideal for keeping our members up to date on news, match reports and upcoming events as well as storing our archive.
The current much-loved cavershamcroquet.uk website has been out of operation since last week — who knew? — when our certificate expired.
The club still has the option to purchase new licences for our domain name and to our prime host, which are becoming increasingly expensive, which would allow us to continue using the old website.
Whatever the decision, the committee will no doubt hope that we can keep a public profile and attract a greater ‘footfall’ of hits in future.
