Carol’s a winter winner

Carol Jamieson toasts victory

In the bleak midwinter there is still plenty of competitive croquet being played, and some intrepid Caversham Members will always find it.

Not only that, but they will enjoy some success! So congratulations to Carol Jamieson for venturing across the county border and coming back from High Wycombe with a prize (pictured).

Carol was the worthy winner of a small 4+ level-play GC tournament at the Hazlemere-based club.High Wycombe are continuing to stage winter GC competitions throughout the next few weeks.

These are informal events — no whites required — that don’t go on handicap cards.

Some use the Advantage format which Caversham plays in our Southern Federation league.
Others are level-play events for people with handicaps of 5 and above. These matches don’t count for index points and don’t go on your scorecard.

Interested? The man to contact is chris.webbley@btinternet.com. Entry is a steal at £10 a head; I hope to see some of you there.

Meanwhile I’m sure Carol will put the club fridge to good use so she can share some of that prize with her friends and playing partners!
